Pro provoz motoru AP09 doporučujeme dva základní typy: palivo pro záběh nesmí obsahovat méně než 20% ricínového oleje a ne více než 15% nitromethanu. Použití paliva s větším obsahem nitromethanu nebo se syntetickým olejem způsobí, že motor poběží při příliš vysoké teplotě, což způsobí nadměrné opotřebení a poškození motoru ve velmi krátké době. Pro správný záběh musí palivo obsahovat ricínový olej, který zajistí běh při nižší teplotě. Jakmile je motor správně zaběhnut (po asi 45 minutách podle dále popsaného postupu s doporučeným zabíhacím palivem) můžete použít palivo s obsahem až 25% nitromethanu a ne méně než 16% ricínového oleje, přičemž je možno použít palivo se směsí ricínového a syntetického oleje.

Für den Betrieb des Motors AP09 empfehlen wir zwei Grundtypen: Einfahrkraftstoff darf nicht weniger als 20% Rizinusöl und nicht mehr als 15% Nitromethan enthalten. Die Verwendung des Kraftstoffs mit einem größeren Gehalt an Nitromethan oder synthetischem Öl führt dazu, dass der Motor bei einer zu hohen Temperatur läuft, was zu übermäßigem Verschleiß führt und den Motor in sehr kurzer Zeit beschädigt. Für ein richtiges Einlaufen muss der Kraftstoff Rizinusöl enthalten, um einen Betrieb bei einer niedrigeren Temperatur zu gewährleisten. ^h English (en)	==== Recommended fuel ==== The quality and type of fuel used greatly affects the performance and service life of the engine. We recommend two basic types for operating the AP09 engine: the fuel for breaking-in must contain no less than 20 % castor oil and no more than 15 % nitromethane. Using fuel with a higher nitromethane content or synthetic oil will cause the engine to run at too high a temperature, resulting in excessive wear and damage to the engine in a very short time. For proper break-in, the fuel must contain castor oil to ensure lower operating temperatures. Once the engine is properly broken-in (after about 45 minutes according to the procedure described below with the recommended break-in fuel), you can use fuel containing up to 25 % nitromethane and no less than 16 % castor oil, and fuel with a mixture of castor and synthetic oil can be used.
