KAVAN Smart PRO SF6 Servo fuse 6 A - Instruction manual

KAVAN Smart PRO SF6 – one fuse

KAVAN Smart PRO SF6 – four fuses
Introduction
The KAVAN Smart PRO SF6 is an electronic servo fuse installed between a receiver output and one servo. It protects the onboard power supply against a servo fault and filters interference carried by the servo wiring. It is particularly useful with long servo leads, petrol engines and fast servos that benefit from additional supply capacitance.
A resettable polymer fuse carries up to 6 A continuously; the source lists a 50 A peak rating. A unidirectional pulse amplifier filters unwanted input signals and regenerates the servo control signal at a 5 V logic level, reducing interference returned from the servo towards the receiver. Supply capacitors reduce voltage ripple. The 5 V signal level is not a specification for a regulated servo power output.
The receiver input uses a female JR connector. The servo output uses a male JR connector with a mechanical retaining feature.
Technical specifications
| Operating supply voltage | 5–8.4 V |
|---|---|
| Maximum input voltage | 10 V |
| Continuous current | 6 A |
| Peak current, duration unspecified | 50 A |
| Weight | 5 g |
| Dimensions | 23×8×6 mm |
Use the stated operating range, not the 10 V maximum, as the normal supply limit. Connect only one servo to each SF6. Do not assume the fuse will prevent every overload or protect an unsuitable servo. Check the servo’s voltage, signal and current requirements.
Main section
- Switch off and disconnect the model’s power supply. Disable the propulsion system before installation or control checks.
- Place SF6 approximately halfway along the cable between the receiver and servo. Support the wiring without tension and protect the connectors against vibration.
- Connect the receiver output to the SF6 input and one servo to the output. Observe the product’s signal, positive (+) and negative (−) markings and secure the servo connector retainer.
- Reconnect power and check the servo throughout its required travel with propulsion disabled. Investigate erratic movement, loss of control or excessive heating before use; disconnect power before inspecting the wiring.
