Introduction

This guide explains how to transfer the throttle function between the two gimbals and adjust their centring, friction and ratchet. Mechanical adjustment and the software stick mode must agree.

Danger

Switch off the model and transmitter. Disconnect and remove the transmitter battery before opening the case. Protect the antennas, cables and connectors; never pull the case halves apart against a cable. If the hardware differs from the guide, stop and contact service.

Adjustment locations

Adjustment locations – V20
  1. Horizontal centring spring, right gimbal
  2. Ratchet screw, right gimbal
  3. Tension/friction screw, right gimbal
  4. Centring-spring lock
  5. Vertical centring spring, right gimbal
  6. Ratchet screw, left gimbal
  7. Tension/friction screw, left gimbal
  8. Vertical centring spring, left gimbal
  9. Mounting hole for the centring-spring lock
  10. Horizontal centring spring, left gimbal

Main section

  1. Remove the battery cover, disconnect and remove the battery, and undo the four rear-case screws. Support the rear cover by its handle and open it carefully without pulling the antennas. Rotate the cover aside only as far as the cables permit.
  2. Remove the centring-spring lock [4] from the current throttle gimbal. Adjust its vertical centring spring so the stick returns to centre. The legacy procedure specifies turning this adjustment anticlockwise. Check the actual effect and do not force the screw.
  3. On the new throttle gimbal, release the vertical centring adjustment; the legacy procedure specifies clockwise rotation. Lift the centring arm slightly, insert the spring lock in its mounting hole [9] and secure it. Check that the new throttle stays where positioned and the opposite stick centres.
  4. Use the inner screws [2, 6] to set the ratchet and the outer screws [3, 7] to set tension/friction. Adjust one screw at a time and check the effect throughout the full stick travel. Do not overtighten or restrict travel.
  5. Check full travel of both gimbals. Adjust ratchet and friction until the feel is suitable, without overtightening the screws or restricting travel.
  6. Refit the rear cover without trapping cables or antennas and secure its four screws. Reconnect and insert the battery with correct polarity, then close the battery cover.
  7. Turn on the transmitter and select the matching stick mode in System → Sticks, for example Mode 2 → Mode 1. Calibrate the controls as described in the transmitter manual, then check directions, neutral positions and full travel in Model → Outputs. Menu labels may differ with firmware.
Danger

With the model’s propulsion disabled, check every control, throttle stop and failsafe before returning the model to service. A successful stick-mode change does not verify each model memory automatically.
